Skin Physiology and why it Matters with Tattoo Application and Tattoo Removal

Skin physiology is a crucial factor to consider during tattoo application and tattoo removal. Understanding how the skin works and reacts to these procedures is essential to ensure the safety and efficacy of the process. Whether you’re tattooing or removing a tattoo with a laser, being familiar with the nuances of skin physiology will ensure you provide the best care possible for clients. Are you interested in broadening your knowledge of the connection between skin physiology and tattoo application, and tattoo removal? Keep reading this blog to learn more!

Understanding Skin Physiology and Tattoo Application

When it comes to getting a tattoo, understanding your skin physiology is an important component to consider.

Tattooing involves injecting the ink into the dermis layer of the skin, the middle layer of the skin, where it remains permanent. The skin’s ability to heal and regenerate is critical in tattooing, as it determines how well the tattoo is expected to heal and how vibrant the ink will remain over time. Factors such as Fitzpatrick skin type, age, and overall health and well-being affect the healing process. For these reasons, following proper aftercare instructions is essential to guarantee the best results.

Different skin types react differently to the tattoo ink that’s inserted in the dermis. The Fitzpatrick skin type scale is a system that categorizes skin into six different types based on factors such as skin color, sun sensitivity, and the tendency to tan or burn. Regarding skin physiology, the individual’s Fitzpatrick skin type will be a major factor that impacts tattooing.

Understanding Skin Physiology and Laser Tattoo Removal

When it comes to tattoo removal, the skin’s physiology plays an even more significant role than with tattooing. The tattoo removal process involves breaking down the ink particles in the dermis layer of the skin, which can be challenging to do without damaging the surrounding tissue. The skin’s response to this process varies depending on the individual, with some experiencing more discomfort or irritation than others.

Laser tattoo removal works by using high-intensity light through a laser beam to break up the ink pigment in the skin. The ink particles absorb the laser’s energy, causing them to shatter into tiny fragments. These fragments are then absorbed by the body’s immune system and eliminated naturally over time through the lymphatic system. The laser tattoo removal process is typically done in multiple sessions, spaced six to eight weeks apart; allowing the skin time to remove the shattered ink particles and heal properly between sessions.

How well laser tattoo removal works depends on several factors, including the laser technology used, as well as the size of the tattoo, the ink color, the individual’s health, Fitzpatrick skin type, and overall health. Overall, it’s important to understand how these factors correlate with laser tattoo removal to provide clients with the safest and most effective treatments.

Investing in Advanced Laser Devices with Multiple Treatment Capabilities

In an industry with several aesthetic laser device choices, it can be hard to figure out which one is best suited for your medical aesthetics practice or laser business. There is also the dilemma of figuring out which device to invest in because you want to be able to deliver the best results. This is where devices with multiple treatment capabilities come in. There are a few key factors to consider when looking to invest in laser devices with multiple capabilities. Continue reading this blog to learn more about each of these components and how you can expand your aesthetic laser business by investing in the best multimodal laser technology.

Aesthetic Laser Devices with Multiple Applications

Many multimodal aesthetic laser devices have been manufactured in the past but have fallen a bit short of expectation. Manufacturers have made claims such as “it can do everything from A to Z”, but have sacrificed quality, efficacy, and power, all for the sake of being able to state it can treat every cosmetic dermatological indication under the sun. While the devices were FDA-cleared to perform these procedures, it would take quite a long time to see results because power and efficacy were sacrificed for convenience.

Patient satisfaction decreases when anticipated results don’t happen, which can lead to distrust in your aesthetic laser business. As laser tattoo removal technology and laser hair removal devices have advanced, these aesthetic laser machines are now more efficient and safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types – with the addition of other cosmetic laser procedural capabilities, too.

Ablative, Non-Ablative, and Fractional Laser Procedures

Ablative laser procedures impact the outer layer of skin while non-ablative laser procedures only affect the lower layer of skin without damaging it. Ablative laser procedures are great for treating visible signs of aging such as deep wrinkles, acne scarring and cosmetic pigmentation concerns. Non-ablative laser procedures require less downtime and are a great choice to treat fine lines and smaller cosmetic skin imperfections.

Lasers that provide ablative, non-ablative, and fractional treatment applications are a great way for laser practitioners and aesthetic laser business owners to increase profits by increasing their services, all from one aesthetic laser device. Some advanced laser machines also offer fractional laser services, typically by utilizing an additional handpiece specifically designed for fractional cosmetic laser procedures.

Investing in the Right Aesthetic Laser Device for your Business

Needs, timeline, target demographic, and budget are common factors that are absolutely taken into consideration when investing in equipment for any business; finding the best laser device for your aesthetic business is no different. FDA-clearance is also a key factor to include in your research and laser business planning stages. FDA-clearance matters when you’re researching various laser machines. Lasers are considered medical equipment and therefore require FDA-clearance. Investing in FDA-cleared, medical-grade lasers will ensure you’re providing safe and reliable aesthetic laser services.

Also taking into consideration the power and technology of the machine is crucial to making the best investment possible. Even having a better understanding of the difference between picosecond and nanosecond technology, diode vs. IPL, or Erbium:YAG vs. C02 lasers, will be helpful when determining which aesthetic laser device is right for your laser hair removal or laser tattoo removal clinic.

For example, choosing a tattoo removal laser device that also can provide pigmented lesion removal, cosmetic pigmentation correction and other aesthetic offerings is a great way to expand your business and provide multiple cosmetic laser services – ultimately increasing client satisfaction and profits.

The Astanza Trinity is a powerful nanosecond laser that provides full-color spectrum tattoo removal by combining Q-switched, Nd:YAG and ruby lasers. The Trinity, an FDA-cleared, technologically-advanced aesthetic laser device, is capable of treating fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots (age spots), scarring, stretch marks, diffuse hyperpigmentation (such as melasma) and more. Additionally, one of the five available handpieces is a fractional handpiece and can be used in Q-switched mode, making it safe and effective for ALL Fitzpatrick skin types. Believe it or not, that’s not all. This technologically-advanced aesthetic laser device is capable of treating fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots (age spots), scarring, stretch marks, diffuse hyperpigmentation (such as melasma) and more! Additionally, one of the 5 available handpieces is fractional and can be used in Q-switched mode, making it safe and effective for ALL skin types.

Another example of an advanced laser device with multiple capabilities is the Asclepion MeDioStar®, backed by Astanza. The MeDioStar® is a diode laser hair removal device that has an additional vascular handpiece available, providing the ability to remove benign vascular abnormalities and pigmentation concerns such as spider veins, cherry angiomas, and more. The MeDioStar® also has the largest treatment spot size available on the market with its XL handpiece measuring at 10cm2; making large area hair removal procedures extremely fast.

entrepreneur's guide to a laser tattoo removal device

Entrepreneur’s Guide to Choosing the Best Tattoo Removal Laser

At New Look Laser College, we collaborate with clients from various fields, including tattoo artists, physicians, estheticians, and experienced laser technicians. However, our typical clients are entrepreneurs who aspire to quit their regular jobs and establish their lucrative laser tattoo removal business.

Have you ever wondered how New Look Laser College helps people become entrepreneurs? Well, we offer FDA-cleared, medical-grade laser tattoo removal devices to those who want to start their own business. Medical lasers have revolutionized the health and wellness industry by providing fast and efficient results without invasive procedures. The tattoo removal industry has made great strides thanks to Q-switch lasers, nanosecond, and picosecond technology.

Astanza Laser’s advanced laser technology uses energy, pulse duration, and specific wavelengths to gradually remove colorful tattoos. Astanza’s lasers precisely target only the ink pigmentation underneath the skin’s surface, breaking it down upon contact. The body naturally removes the fragments as the ink particles shatter, resulting in a less visible tattoo mark. At Astanza, we have the expertise, proper technology, and industry insight to help your tattoo removal business succeed.

Research State Regulations

If you’re planning to enter the tattoo removal industry, it’s essential to research and understand the laser regulations in your state. These rules are determined at the state level and can vary greatly. While some requirements are similar across states, such as having a medical director and using FDA-cleared devices, there are differences in who can operate the laser. In most states, non-medical personnel make up the majority of laser tattoo removal providers, and medical credentials are not required for practitioners or clinic owners.

Before opening a laser tattoo removal business in your area, it’s crucial to research your state’s laser regulations and understand the competition you may face. The competitive landscape for tattoo removal varies depending on the location and the technology and services providers offer. As tattoo removal is a newer medical procedure than other cosmetic procedures, entrepreneurs can become the leading provider in their area. By researching your competition’s pricing, technology, and services, you can determine how to differentiate your business and outperform your competitors.

Make Sure To Get Certified

In order to provide laser tattoo removal services, it is necessary to obtain certification in tattoo removal. New Look Laser College offers extensive training on using laser equipment for tattoo removal. The program includes the technical aspects of laser procedures and the business of running a laser tattoo removal practice. If you aim to become certified in laser tattoo removal, New Look Laser College provides a thorough two-day training course that covers the clinical, technical, and business aspects of laser tattoo removal.

Are you looking to get certified in laser tattoo removal? Look no further than New Look Laser College! Our program provides hands-on training with FDA-cleared, medical-grade Astanza Laser equipment and offers three certifications upon completion. Investing in proper training and certifications is crucial for your business’s long-term success and growth in the tattoo removal industry.

Duality

The Astanza Duality is a high-performance laser that removes tattoos and pigmented lesions. This laser model has 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths, making it ideal for treating different ink colors and skin tones. Tattoo artists who primarily handle black tattoos and new entrepreneurs in the laser industry will find the Astanza Duality an excellent laser.

Trinity

The Astanza Trinity laser is a powerful tool that combines Q-switched Nd: YAG and ruby technology into one convenient box, giving practitioners even more options for treating unwanted tattoos. The Trinity delivers three reliable wavelengths – 532 nm, 694 nm, and 1064 nm – making it ideal for elite practices that want to effectively treat all tattoo ink colors, including tough shades of blue and green. Thanks to its high energy production and advanced beam improvements, the Astanza Trinity system can safely and quickly treat virtually any tattoo on any skin type with exceptional results.

Picostar

The Asclepion PicoStar®, supported by Astanza, offers quicker and more efficient treatments due to its picosecond technology. Its ultra-short pulse length of only 400 picoseconds fragments tattoos into smaller particles faster than nanosecond lasers. The Asclepion PicoStar® emits 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths and can be paired with the EternityTSR for triple wavelength capabilities. If you’re an entrepreneur seeking to generate profits quickly, the Asclepion PicoStar® is an excellent option, as it can provide twice as many treatments in the same amount of time as nanosecond lasers.
