Tattoos are a creative way for a person to express themself. But what happens when they change their style, grow out of their tattoo, or decide to make a career change where tattoos are frowned upon? Tattoo regret can come from a change in lifestyle, a change in attitude, or almost any other conceivable reason. You will encounter these reasons for tattoo regret and many more during your time as a laser tattoo removal practitioner. Keep reading to discover the different types of patients you’ll encounter when attending New Look Laser College and in your own practice or tattoo studio.

1) Outgrowing their Ink

Tattoo Removal Patients You'll EncounterThe majority of people get tattoos when they are young. Statistics show that tattoos are popular among younger generations and some studies indicate that more than 50% of millennials have tattoos. Younger adults often get matching tattoos with a friend or boyfriend. Others get one related to the newest up and coming trend. Over time a person may feel as though they no longer connect with their tattoo or may just be in a new phase of their life. Maybe they don’t like the piece or artwork anymore, or they don’t want their kids to see it. Tattoo regret that stems from decisions made at a young age will motivate many to get their tattoo removed.

2) Tattoo Collector

Another type of patient you may encounter in your practice or tattoo shop is a tattoo collector. This person may choose to have a particular tattoo or a portion of their artwork faded to change or cover it up with a different piece of artwork. These group of people is not just getting tattooed for the heck of it, but they’re strategically getting custom pieces by some of the most renowned artists in the industry. Instead of hanging paintings on their walls, they enjoy showing off their incredible ink on their skin.

3) Trying to join the military

Some individuals may choose to join the military. When entering the military, they have specific rules as to where you can and cannot have tattoos. The military bans any tattoo on the head, neck, and face. Tattoos are also not allowed on the arms and legs of a soldier. They can not be visible on any part of the body that can be exposed while in uniform. However, the military does not limit the number or size of tattoos. If a person truly has their heart set on joining the military, they will go through with getting any tattoo removed that might prohibit them from entering. As a laser tattoo removal practitioner, you should strive to make their appointment pleasurable, as they sacrifice their lives every day serving our country.

4) The Tattoo is a Reminder of a Negative Time in their Life

Tattoo Removal Patients You'll EncounterTattoos can have a hold on a person, especially ones that represent memories, both good or bad. If a person has a bad memory connected to their tattoo, they may want to get it removed to disconnect themselves from their past. Maybe they’re ready to move forward past their current stage in life, and the memory from the tattoo is too painful. It is your job to help erase a memory that could be life-changing.

These are the types of patients you will see most frequently in your practice or at a tattoo shop. Whether you know it or not, you are changing their life by helping them start over in some form. Try your best to meet the needs of each individual client and success will surely follow.
